There’s been quite a number of player reports of characters getting stuck in rocks, behind rocks, etc. in Skyrim. To put your minds at ease, no you haven’t done anything wrong that caused you to get stuck. These are either glitches or the developers nasty attempt to place pitfalls in the game.<\/p>\n
Regular saving will make this aggravating glitch less of an inconvenience. If you aren’t already saving often, now would be a good time to take up that habit. Unfortunately, there is no other way around some of these pitfalls. Jumping won’t work, sneaking or other movement changes can’t get you out. The only way to get out is to reload the game, preferably from a recent save point. Aside from the obvious downsides, this can be a huge pain if you haven’t saved after just taking out a group of trolls or other menacing enemy.<\/p>\n
There are only a handful of places where getting stuck is impossible to get out of. The best way to prevent your character getting stuck is to avoid the situations if possible. Easier said than done, but some things to look out for are rock formations which dead end. In dark areas that means using a torch or candlelight so you can see the impending doom of a tight rock cluster. For areas covered by shrub or bush, move slowly through them and keep an eye on the ground to warn of ditches.<\/p>\n
Sadly, you cannot ask your companion (if you have one) to help pull you out and so far as we can tell there are no magicka that will work to release you.<\/p>\n
Remember, save often! Now go kill an ice troll, they deserve it!<\/p>\n
