Dining out is a regular occurrence for many of us, whether it be for leisure or out of necessity. If you’ve ever found yourself in search of a restaurant that fits your appetite, but prefer to know the cuisine ahead of time, then MenuPages may be just what you need.<\/p>\n
MenuPages holds a collection of restaurants with location, cuisine style, price point and menus. Restaurants are currently collected from 8 different US cities which include Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, San Francisco, South Florida (technically more of an area than city) and Washington D.C. MenuPages is also available for European cities London and Paris.<\/p>\n
Dining searchers have several ways to narrow down the extremely large list of potential restaurants. The most direct approach is probably by location which allows a user to choose an area closest to their present location. For example, if you need a restaurant in San Francisco you can choose Soma\/Mission or Downtown\/Waterfront or any of the other locations. Choosing an area will display results in alphabetical order for all restaurants in the MenuPages database. If the narrowed search results aren’t specific enough, users can choose to search by neighborhood as well. So in our San Francisco example a user could select Fisherman’s Wharf to list the restaurants in that neighborhood.<\/p>\n
Filtering results by cuisine type sorts the dining destinations in the same ABC order and still allows for area specific selection. So again, in our example, we could choose Asian cuisine, select Downtown\/Waterfront and the number of restaurants returned is down to less than 50 compared to 100’s. Further filtering includes by meal type which is great for eliminating those restaurants which don’t serve breakfast.<\/p>\n
Restaurants are presented in a list format with several bits of information which can be useful to potential diners. Items like price point (how expensive the meal is) and rating aid in gathering a full picture of the restaurant’s offering. The final information category is that of reviews. Fellow diners can write a review of their experience, making it a way to share their opinions on the meal and service. There are a number of other ways to narrow down the restaurants to fit within your criteria, including credit cards accepted, kid friendly, delivery, business dining and others.<\/p>\n
As if all that information wasn’t enough, MenuPages provides a menu for the restaurant(s) you choose. In our example, we chose Asian cuisine, narrowed the results to Downtown\/Waterfront and the first result is Butterfly<\/em> restaurant. MenuPages provides the street address for the restaurant, menu of available dishes, brief ingredient list and cost for the dish.
