Here&#8217;s how to get going and choose your side in the Dawnguard DLC.<\/p>\n\n<h2>Download the Dawnguard DLC<\/h2>\n<hr \/>\n<p>[list type=bullet]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Navigate to Games \u2192 Titles A-Z \u2192 S \u2192 Skyrim \u2192 Extras \u2192 See all \u2192 Select Dawnguard DLC (last option to the right).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cost<\/strong>: 1600 points or $19.99.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Size<\/strong>: 581.70MB<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>To begin the Dawnguard quest, you&#8217;ll need to activate it. Talking to guards should do the trick. As an example, my last save was in the Thieves Guild and upon exiting talked to the first Riften guard available which instantly triggered the Dawnguard dialogue and opened the quest. Talking to a companion also references Dawnguard with, \u201cSomething has shifted in the moons brother.\u201d<\/p>\n\n<h3>How To Choose Vampire Lord or Dawnguard<\/h3>\n<hr \/>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Dawnguard<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>[list style=bullet]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Enter <em>Dayspring Canyon<\/em> located east\/southeast of Riften.<\/li>\n<li>Follow the path towards <em>Dawnguard<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>Along the way, stop and speak with <em>Durak<\/em> to receive your crossbow.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5599\" title=\"Skyrim Dawnguard Durak Crossbow\" alt=\"Skyrim Dawnguard Durak Crossbow\" src=\"http:\/\/geekitdown.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/skyrim-dawnguard-durak-crossbow.jpg\" width=\"425\" height=\"270\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Speak with <em>Isran<\/em>, leader of the Dawnguard to complete Dawnguard and start Awakening.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h4><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Awakening<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Awakening occurs in <em>Dimhollow Crypt<\/em> located west of Hall of the Vigilant and northeast of Shrine of Mehrunes Dagon. From Hall of the Vigilant, the path to Dimhollow Crypt is down the path and to the left (if staring up the hill to the Hall it will be on your right).<\/p>\n<p>[list style=bullet]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Enter the crypt and make your way through to its end.<\/li>\n<li>Push the button at the center of the area.<\/li>\n<li>Align the Braziers properly to raise the monolith. <strong>TIP<\/strong>: Follow the purple haze to unlock the pattern.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5598\" title=\"Skyrim Dawnguard Braziers Purple Haze\" alt=\"Skyrim Dawnguard Braziers Purple Haze\" src=\"http:\/\/geekitdown.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/skyrim-dawnguard-braziers-purple-haze.jpg\" width=\"425\" height=\"270\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Activate the monolith to release a Mysterious Woman (<em>Serana<\/em>).<\/li>\n<li>Speak with Serana to complete Awakening and start Bloodline.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h4><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Bloodline<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Bloodline takes your travels to an area west of Solitude which is Serana&#8217;s home. The island is just northwest of Northwatch Keep.<\/p>\n<p>[list style=bullet]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Locate the boat dock and travel to <em>Castle Volkihar<\/em> by boat.<\/li>\n<li>Speak with <em>Lord Harkon<\/em> about the return of his daughter Serana.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5600\" title=\"Skyrim Dawnguard Harkon Vampire\" alt=\"Skyrim Dawnguard Harkon Vampire\" src=\"http:\/\/geekitdown.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/skyrim-dawnguard-harkon-vampire.jpg\" width=\"425\" height=\"270\" \/><\/li>\n<li>He offers you a choice to become one of them (Vampire Lords) or be banished, but alive.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Notes<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li>Harkon offers to banish you and let you live because you&#8217;ve returned his daughter.<\/li>\n<li>If you&#8217;re a werewolf when you speak with Harkon, your form will be cleansed of the werewolf form and altered to vampire if you choose to join them.<\/li>\n<li>Don&#8217;t take too long deciding whether or not to join them.
