Do you remember the days of carrying around a small notepad for taking notes? Keeping a small notepad in the car was always a popular solution for those times when something just had to be written down immediately. Now however, we have fancy smartphones and tablets which go everywhere with us. Along with those great gadgets are apps that routinely make things a bit simpler, including note-taking. An extension of those mobile apps are webapps and cloud integration. Jotstack is a webapp designed to deliver your notes to you from the cloud.

Webapp

Jotstack was designed to capture those moments when a thought strikes and there’s need to make note of it. Through a very colorful, bold interface, Jotstack quickly provides access to a note-taking box. The single-click, type note, save sequence process is very quick and provides direct access to what’s needed – a place to jot down a note.

Users don’t have to be logged in to create a note as Jotstack saves the note temporarily so that users can jot down thoughts, then login to save it. In order to fully utilize Jotstack, users will need to create an account and register so that notes can be retrieved.

Features

Jotstack provides a note manager along with sorting features to help organize and keep notes uncluttered. Aside from note management, there are sharing options through the use of a Public option. The public setting makes notes available for anyone to view with an option to share specific notes via unique URL.

Why use Jotstack?

Obviously mobile apps serve a great purpose and many are outstanding, but let’s face it, they aren’t perfect. Some don’t even have synchronization or cloud integration options. Jotstack provides a quick option delivered directly from the web which makes it a convenient choice. Best of all, Jotstack is free!

Limitations

The website is not responsive in terms of mobile view, so it can seem a bit cluttered on a smaller device. Nevertheless, it’s still quite usable. We’d like to see a private sharing option as opposed to the existing public with shared link. Additionally, a tags feature (specifically at note creation) would be a huge positive.

Wrap-up

Overall, Jotstack is useful and that’s what you want in a webapp. It’s not going to corner the market on note-taking, but gives users an option that is complete enough to use regularly.
