Ribbet
Launched in June 2012, Ribbet is what could be considered the next best thing to Picnik which was closed down by Google in April 2012. Fans of Picnik have been searching for an adequate replacement and Ribbet might just be the answer.
Webapp
Ribbet is free and doesn’t require a registration or sign-in via social network in order to use the web service. As quickly as uploading a photo users can start editing and manipulating the look of a photo. The Ribbet interface is fairly standard with a large window for the photo and all manner of editing tools aligned on the left sidebar.
The tabs across the top provide quick access to a user’s library of photos, the editing window and save and share options.
Editing
There are an enormous amount of editing options. The library of filters and effects are nearly endless with additional manipulations involving stickers, frames and predefined touch-ups making for a real project studio type environment. There are so many different choices when it comes to altering photos that we simply could not list them all without having pages filled with feature labels.
Beyond what you’d expect and what is offered in the way of altering photos there are advanced editing options. Advanced editing includes items such as levels control, dodging and others, all of which are available with the Premium package.
Ribbet doesn’t end there either. With text edits, users can add typography to their photos. Choose from literally dozens of different fonts with specialty categories like Halloween and Holiday Fonts.
Sharing
Currently users can share their photos to Flickr and Facebook with the added ability to print and download their photo creations.
Premium
Premium members get unlimited access to the premium features and edit options. To celebrate their launch, Ribbet Premium is free with the only requirement being registration.
Final Thoughts
There are a handful of online photo editors available and with the loss of Picnik users have been trying many of them only to find themselves wanting more. Ribbet is a step beyond other cloud options we’ve looked at and delivers on numerous editing features with quality results.
With Ribbet Premium free for the time being, it’s a wise move to get in and try out this service to see if it can be your simple Photoshop in the cloud.
