If you receive automatic updates from Microsoft like most of us do, then you probably noticed or will notice additional security updates for your system. There are a number of them, but the most important may be that of the Internet Explorer 9 update.
The update addresses issues which could allow an attacker to compromise the user’s machine. To quote the update notification, “Security issues have been identified that could allow an attacker to compromise a system that is running Microsoft Internet Explorer and gain control over it.”

Every update is important, but one as critical as this needs to be applied immediately to protect users. If you have automatic updates enabled then you should receive the update today. If you manually perform updates then make sure you go in and patch IE9 with the critical update KB2586448.
