Fur.ly
The rise of Twitter has meant the rise of URL shorteners. Everyday, links are shared in a shortened state so that information can be shared using as few characters as possible. Fur.ly is one of those many URL shorteners with a distinct difference. Fur.ly shortened links can hold multiple URLs.
The Fur.ly interface is much like any other URL shortener in that it has a place to enter a link and captcha to verify against bots. Fur.ly immediately offers the option for multiple URLs after each initial web address is entered. Users who want to be specific with their message or track their links can optionally customize the shortened link itself.
When a user clicks a Fur.ly link, they are directed to the first URL in the sequence. Fur.ly displays a banner across the top of the page indicating the number of links, URLs of those links an option to open links in new browser window, a view count and a statistics link. Statistics are displayed in a separate tab/window and are sorted by date.
Fur.ly is free and there aren’t any registration requirements for viewing statistics. Fur.ly is a great idea for those who want to share more information than a single link can provide and the unobtrusive banner means users shouldn’t feel put-off by it.
