Exploratree
Have you ever created a pros versus cons list? Many of us have, it involves a subject line and two columns for positive and negative results surrounding the subject. Exploratree is an online way to create those and many, many more types of thinking guides.
Exploratree uses a web interface which allows users to create everything direct from the browser. New users will want to create a login in order to save their guides or trees for future use. Creating a thinking guide starts by choosing a template or blank canvas, in all 25 different choices. Experienced users can help others by uploading their own custom trees which further adds value to the service.
A variety of tools are provided for users to manipulate their tree (thinking guide) to their own personal specifications. Options like shapes, colors, text and resize are all available from a tools sidebar. If the tree is meant for someone else, for example placement on a website for visitors, Exploratree offers a hint box which can be added to trees. Like any webapp or online tool these days, sharing and sending the information to others is integrated into the service.
Exploratree is developed by Futurelab which is funded by Microsoft, so they aren’t a fly-by-night tool. The interface is simple to get a handle on and is a nice option for anyone who wants to create some thinking type tools or diagram guides for exploring subjects in their lives.
