Mobile Statistics

The battle for mobile supremacy is no secret. Mobile communication and computing is absolutely dominating the computing market right now and in the process decimating personal computer sales. How do we keep up with trends and overall popularity? In steps Mobile Statistics with curated data, news and statistics about the mobile market.

The Contenders

Apple and Android have been battling it out quite publicly for sometime. Faltering is Blackberry and emerging is Windows Phone. Mobile Statistics provides a good deal of information about the mobile contenders and where they’re heading.

The Statistics

Statistics include device sales, market share, app downloads, app availability and contender comparisons. Information is illustrated in large colorful graphs and pie charts that anyone can understand. Market share for example overwhelmingly favors Android, while app downloads for Apple are double (June 2012 statistics) any other.

Statistics are broken down into quarterly reports, annual statistics and number of downloads. Mobile Statistics information is incredibly easy to read and well presented for anyone to understand.

Why Mobile Statistics?

Consumers

As a consumer, the information can be interpreted for purchasing. Statistics can be used to see which mobile platforms are performing well and will ultimately be around for a while. It’s a great way to gauge just how many other users will be using that platform and a good indication of the level of peer-to-peer support you can expect.

Developers

For app developers the information can be of financial benefit. Developers can analyze the data to see which phones are the most popular and which mobile platform has the highest amount of downloaded apps.

Summary

Trending statistics and popularity data aside, Mobile Statistics does provide information that most of us are curious about, but don’t know where to look. The resources for curating the information could be more broad, though adequate.

We’d like to see some more detailed statistics that could benefit developers when choosing a mobile platform to start on. Otherwise the website is chock full of information and worth a look if you’re inquisitive about mobile tech.
