How To Retrieve The Dawnguard Lost Relics [Skyrim]

The Lost Relic quest(s) is part of the Skyrim Dawnguard DLC. The quest involves retrieving ancient Dawnguard artifacts scattered in different locations.

Notes: The locations are random and your quest destination may differ from the directions provided here. Additionally, you cannot complete all Lost Relic assignments unless you have first finished Gunmar side quests and Sorine’s first Ancient Technology side quest.

Gunmar’s side quests do become tedious and they must be completed between each Lost Relic quest from Florentius.

How to retrieve the Dawnguard Lost Relics

Dawnguard Rune Hammer

Speak with Florentius Baenius to initiate the quest.
Travel to Hag Rock Redoubt, located southwest of Markarth.
Follow the southern path to reach Hag Rock Redoubt Ruins entrance.
Head straight and up the spiral staircase.
Take the northern path.
Retrieve the Dawnguard Rune Hammer from the chest.
Return to Florentius Baenius at Fort Dawnguard to complete Lost Relic.

Dawnguard Rune Shield

Speak to Florentius Baenius to initiate the quest.
Travel to Lost Echo Cave, located north of Volskygge and west of Solitude.
Enter the cave and move towards the end of the path.
Activate the Ceremonial Brazier to the right of the table to open a secret passage at the back of the cave. [notice type=”green”]Tip: Harvest glowing mushroom, which is needed to activate the brazier.[/notice]
Make your way to the back of the cavern, fighting off any Falmer you encounter.
Inside a Falmer Hut is a chest. Retrieve Dawnguard Rune Shield from the chest.
To the left of the hut is a passage. Activate the handle on the left side entrance to the passage to reveal an exit shortcut.
Return to Florentius Baenius at Fort Dawnguard to complete Lost Relic.

DawnGuard Rune Axe

Speak to Florentius Baenius to initiate the quest.
Travel to Uttering Hills Camp, located west southwest of Windhelm and north of Gallow’s Rock.
Enter Uttering Hills Camp and move through the camp and down the stairs towards the living area.
Take the 1^st right.
Open the door on the right and enter the room to find a chest.
Retrieve Dawnguard Rune Axe from the chest.
Return to Florentius Baenius at Fort Dawnguard to complete Lost Relic.

Additional rewards

The Dawnguard reward with equipment instead of gold. The items are random so there’s no way to tell what you’ll receive. Here are the extra reward items received during our play-through.
