Diigo, pronounced D-Go, takes that process of highlighting and marking information and applies it to the web. Diigo is an online bookmarking site with advanced highlighting and note-taking features. The service is comparable to Delicious, but with advantages that make it stand out.

Diigo’s basic functionality involves bookmarking. Websites can be bookmarked to Diigo just as simply as they can to other online services or browsers. Bookmarks can be imported from browsers and Diigo provides an instructional video for transitioning from Delicious. Diigo uses groups and lists along with traditional tags to organize and sort bookmarks. Items can be marked as public or private with an option to mark them as unread for later reading.

The uniqueness of Diigo comes into play with its highlighting and note-taking features. There are times when online articles are lengthy. Perhaps the subject matter dictates the length or it could be that there are many steps which need outlined.
