As we continue to connect with others around the world in many different ways, the most popular choice is quickly becoming video chat. Through popular services like Skype and ooVoo, people can interact and communicate visually through the web. Often the problem with such services is the setup of software and configuration with the video hardware. Bistri eliminates video chat software and connects with others through your browser.
With Bistri there’s no software to install. The service runs in your web browser so the only requirement is Adobe Flash Player, which is likely already setup on your system. Supported browsers are Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari. Bistri uses your existing audio microphone and video webcam which means there’s no need for new hardware.
Bistri uses a wizard to guide you through setup of the service. The 3-step process involves an audio and video test to ensure hardware devices are working properly and recognized by Bistri. After hardware testing is complete, users can add contacts through other platforms such as Facebook, Windows Live Messenger, Google and others. All information is stored in your Bistri account for future use.
Some additional features include history view of chat and calls along with mobile availability. Bistri can be accessed via mobile devices, but doesn’t yet have a stand alone mobile app. Bistri is still in beta so the service is still progressing. If you want to try an alternative to software video chat services, then give Bistri web video chat a try.
