One of the great things about Diablo 3 is how the data is stored online. Players can access their characters and data from virtually anywhere. Like many cloud storage services, there have been some questions so we’ll try to answer them here.
Diablo 3 Save Game Data
All Diablo 3 save game data is stored “in the cloud”. That means that your character data is accessible from any PC provided you don’t switch game servers. To access your character data just login to your account from an alternate PC (game must be installed on system). Most players won’t have any problems.
An advantage of having this kind of save system means players don’t have to hunt down individual files and folders on their systems and manually move the data between PCs. It also makes things like Auction Houses more widespread and social.
Diablo 3 Client
There is a slight difference between Diablo 3 game data and the Diablo 3 Game Client. The Game Client is downloadable software which is used to connect to the server and retrieve data. If copying the Game Client is what you’re after, then follow these steps.
- Copy, from the first PC, the entire Diablo 3 Game Client directory over your local LAN, onto a USB flash drive or other external storage device. Note: Your directory may vary.
- Paste the folder onto the second PC in the same directory location.
- If desired, create a new shortcut on your desktop to the launcher.
That’s all there is to it. If the process fails, it’s best to repeat it in case files were corrupted. Be sure to allow the process to fully complete before logging in.
