Loveit
Pinning has become the latest and greatest buzzword in social networking. The sudden rise of Pinterest sparked it, but others have used the “Pin” term as well. One of those who’ve recently jumped into the fray is Loveit, an social pinboard for sharing images and content.
Is Loveit a Pinterest clone?
That’s probably the first question that gets raised when talking about Loveit. In some respect they are very much like Pinterest. The interface is nearly identical, in fact it’s hard to tell the difference aside from some very minor cosmetic differences.
The real answer is no. Loveit is not a Pinterest clone, but it does do all the things Pinterest does along with some of their own.
Loveit vs. Pinterest
What’s different about Loveit?
The pin display is much tidier with less scrolling. Like Pinterest, Loveit enlarges a pin when it’s clicked and provides sharing options with a comments section and main frame for the pinned image itself. The difference is how they display it. Loveit uses a two column layout that shows the pin on the left with sharing options aligned underneath it while displaying collections and suggestions in the right side column.
Privacy
Private collections. Loveit categorizes pins into collections as opposed to boards, but what makes Loveit stand apart is the option to make collections private. With Pinterest, everything is public private boards are limited.
Trademark & Copyright
One of the other more notable differences involves trademark and copyright. Loveit appears to be more interested in protecting intellectual property than we’ve seen in the past from other pinning type sites.
Final Thoughts
Most who read this are undoubtedly Pinterest users already, seeking another way to share or searching for an alternative to the popular social pinning site. Loveit is a viable alternative with the same features under a different name along with some more visually appealing ways of interacting on the site.
Private collections are a huge plus for Loveit. That feature alone should influence users to give Loveit a try. With so much sharing it’s easy to get social overload with all the new websites that pop up, but Loveit makes it easy with easy importing of everything from Pinterest, Flickr and others.
