Sworly
How do you find music? Does your current method find unfamiliar artists and new tracks? Whether it does or not, the whole process is likely rather time consuming. Sure it’s easy to find what we know, but discovering new music and artists that appeal to our individual music tastes can be a bit difficult. Sworly is a pleasant mix of both familiar and unfamiliar music from a variety of genres and promoted socially by users.
In the past we’ve reviewed several websites which are a resource for finding new music. Sworly is a bit different from all of those. Now, admittedly, we were a bit skeptical about some of Sworly’s claims. For one, they claim that there are no ads whatsoever, even during the music video playback. The other wild claim is that all music videos are genuine songs and not obscure knockoffs or karaoke. Well, we were wrong to be skeptical. Sworly delivers on both promises. Listening to music on Sworly is much more enjoyable than any other website we’ve tried, including YouTube.
Sworly presents their content in the same style as Pinterest. Songs and artists are listed in no particular order with cover art, parental advisory notice and iTunes purchase link if available. There are 13 different genres of music ranging from rock to jazz with the only glaring omission being classical. The presentation is excellent and although we’ve seen this style more often recently, it really works for Sworly.
Traditional music stores have essentially gone the way of the dinosaur, but Sworly is the next best thing to strolling through aisles of music. Things we’d like to see in the future include purchasing through multiple vendors (Amazon, Google Play) beyond the exisitng iTunes option and a robust search feature.
