Wantful
Wantful is a website to help those who have trouble choosing gifts, deliver a bushel of thoughtful gift ideas. Gift recipients choose from a curated list of items personally created by gift givers, making for a unique giving process.
The Process
Gift givers choose an occasion for the gift, input the recipient’s name, sex and relationship to gift giver. The occasions are plentiful, covering birthdays, thank you’s, anniversaries, holidays and others. There are 14 different relationship types to choose from with all immediate family covered and a client’s choice for business relationships.
The curating begins by answering 10 questions which will help describe the recipient’s personality and interests. The questions can range from hobbies and past times to vacation destinations. Each provides Wantful with insight as to the kind of gift the recipient might enjoy.
Wantful will ask up to 10 questions to grow a gift profile, but users don’t have to answer all 10. Obviously the more questions answered the more accurate the suggested gifts will be.
Choosing Gifts
After Wantful gathers the information from the personality questions, gifts are chosen and provided to the user. Gifts are categorized by price, ranging from $25 to $500. Gift givers choose 16 products which are placed in the virtual Wantful gift book. The catalog of items appears endless with gift options scrolling well beyond a dozen pages.
The selection of gifts is where the true thought and time of choosing comes in to play. Gift givers view images of potential gifts and with a couple of clicks can add it to the gift book. Clicking on an item once displays a small description of the item as well as color, size or style if applicable. If the description provided isn’t clear enough, there is a Learn More link which describes the gift in greater detail.
The book is dressed in a customizable cover, chosen by the gift giver, which again adds to the unique Wantful experience. The unique covers are plentiful, we stopped counting at 30 different book covers. There are several convenient methods for delivering the Wantful gift book. Gift givers can choose to have it mailed to them or directly to the gift recipient. A customizable message can be added to the book and delivery to add one final touch to the gift book. Wantful charges $5 plus shipping and handling charges and according to their website delivers the book within 7 days.
What The Recipient Sees
Upon receiving the Wantful gift book the recipient is provided a unique gift code, located inside the book, to enter on Wantful.com so that he/she can choose a gift from the collection you’ve gathered for them. The book includes an image and short description of each item for your gift recipient to browse.
Wantful is a very thoughtful way to create a list of gifts for those you care about. While the process may seem like a disingenuous way to give gifts, Wantful is a very thoughtout website which probes users to provide information about recipients and choose from an immense array of gift possibilities. The entire process encourages interaction and requires a huge amount of thought from the gift giver with the time spent equal to that of shopping in malls or browsing online marketplaces.
