As part of acquiring the black books in the Dragonborn DLC, characters will need to complete other quests in order to reach their ultimate goal. In Lost Knowledge, players complete a small side quest for Neloth, gain a new shout and gain access to black book Untold Legends.

Here’s how to complete Lost Knowledge and obtain black book Untold Legends.

For other black books, review the Complete Black Book Locations List.

Lost Knowledge

[list style=”square” color=”cobult”]

Speak with Neloth in Tel Mithryn.

Travel to Benkongerike located southeast of Saering’s Watch.

Make your way through Benkongerike to Benkongerike Great Hall.

Continue on until you reach a large chamber. [notice type=”green”]Tip: Mine the Stalhrim deposit in the sarcophagus in the northwest corner of the chamber.[/notice]

Near the back of the chamber is a handle centered on a pedestal. Use the handle to open the gate. [notice type=”green”]Tip: As with many Skyrim puzzles, the emblems must be aligned properly to unlock the gate. The correct order is, from left to right: Bird, Fish, Fish, Serpent.[/notice]

Pass through the gate to the shout wall to obtain Word of Power, Wind, Cyclone.

Exit the room to the east up a downed stone support beam.

Black Book Untold Legends

[list style=”square” color=”cobult”]

Continue through the passage and read black book Untold Legends to be transported to Apocrypha.

Follow the path to Chapter II.

Continue on the main path until you reach the fork in the path. [notice type=”blue”]Note: North is Chapter III, South is Chapter IV. Chapter III is a single room with a chest, but ultimately nothing of consequence is located there.[/notice]

Either clear Chapter III and continue on to Chapter IV or move on immediately to Chapter IV.

Make your way through Chapter IV to a large chamber.

Move to the locked gate on the western side of the chamber.

Activate scrye.

Activate scrye inside gate to open the gate on the eastern side of the chamber.

Activate scrye inside the eastern side gate to open the center area gate.

Once more, activate scrye inside the center area to open the southern exit.

Open Chapter V.

Follow the path south to obtain black book Untold Legends. [notice type=”blue”]Note: No enemies inside Chapter V.[/notice] [notice type=”blue”]Note: There are 2 gates midway through the path in Chapter V. How they are opened is a mystery. If anyone knows, please comment and we’ll modify with credit.[/notice][notice type=”green”]EDIT: We received the following tip from one of our readers, Russ (PC platform): “If you pause before heading down the hall to the south to get the Untold Legends book the hall will move to the left or east. Once it stops, follow it and you’ll fight a Lurker Sentinal and continue along the path and there will be a scrye to active that will open the east gate. You’ll hear the hallway move back to the south and you can get the book or wait again and the hallway will move to the right or west. Once again you’ll fight a Lurker Sentinal and continue along the path until you reach another scrye and activate it to open the west gate. Once again the hallway moves to the south and you can claim the Untold Legends black book.”[/notice]

Return to Solstheim and exit south.

Follow the tunnel and use pull chain on the right hand side to exit out to entrance of Benkongerike.

[notice type=”blue”]Note: The images on the pedestals correspond to the book names.[/notice] [notice type=”green”]Tip: From the entrance, moving in a clockwise direction, place the books like so – Gnashing Blades (6 o’clock), Prying Orbs (9 o’clock), Boneless Limbs (12 o’clock), Delving Pincers (3 o’clock).[/notice]

Defeat Sahrotaar. [notice type=”green”]Tip: You must tame Sahrotaar with the Bend Will shout.[/notice]

Ride Sahrotaar to meet Miraak. [notice type=”yellow”]Warning: This particular dragon ride is glitchy. When manually steering the dragon, it can cause the game to disregard all commands and default Sahrotaar to flying in a straight line with no destination. If this occurs, you’ll need to reset to a previous save point. The best way to avoid this bug is to let Sahrotaar do the flying without manual intervention. He will automatically fly to Miraak after a brief skirmish with a Lurker and Seekers.[/notice]

Defeat Miraak. [notice type=”blue”]Note: Hermaeos Mora is going to steal the glory.[/notice]

Complete At the Summit of Apocrypha and the main quest storyline of the Skyrim, Dragonborn DLC.

Rewards

Of course there are rewards for such a stellar performance. Miraak’s gear is naturally available so be sure to loot the corpse. Additionally, there is a perk point reward.

[list style=”square” color=”cobult”]

Read ‘Waking Dreams’, located at the center of the platform, once to trigger the perk exchange reward and Solstheim exit.

Each perk is shown in a circle around the center of the platform.

Players can choose to exchange a single dragon soul for a complete reset of any perk tree.

Perk points spent in a perk tree are added back to the pot for use wherever you wish.

[notice type=”blue”]Example: Let’s say you don’t use two-handed weapons, but put two perk points in that perk tree when you were a young adventurer. Exchange a dragon soul to reset the two-handed weaponry perk tree to 0. You are then given the 2 perk points back and you can spend them in other more character appropriate perk trees.[/notice]

[notice type=”green”]Tip: You can return to the summit anytime and reset perk trees as you desire by reading ‘Waking Dreams’.[/notice]

Nintendo’s Wii U next gen console is now released which means the speculation ends and play begins. Reviews have been mixed as to the Wii U’s viability in today’s gaming market rich with entertainment services and structure, but Nintendo is confident as ever in their device and looks to cash in ahead of the competition this holiday season.

The road to Wii U

When we were first introduced to the Wii U at E3 2012, we weren’t all that impressed. In fact much of the highlights consisted of prerecorded video of Wii U usage. Since then, much more in the way of pricing and features have emerged that might have gamers taking a second look at the Wii U.

Nintento Wii U Release Date and Pricing was announced in September during a presentation in New York. The presentation was lengthy and felt more like a casual E3 event than a press detailing. Regardless, that was when Nintendo made a play for a broader audience and essentially reintroduced the Wii U.

The result? Nintendo TVii. TVii firmly places entertainment on the Wii U and shows Nintendo’s commitment to delivering more than a family friendly gaming device. Now sporting apps like Netflix, Amazon Instant Video and integration with existing TiVo and cable devices, the Wii U looks like a more rounded family entertainment device.

Games

In the past, Nintendo has been criticized for lack of launch games. This time around Nintendo has made every effort to announce launch date titles and deliver projected release dates for launch window games.

The list of launch date games is decent for a new system and a solid start for Nintendo’s holiday push. Titles like ZombiU and Rayman Legends are sure to garner some sales while Nintendo hopes already released titles like Assassin’s Creed 3, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and Mass Effect 3 have enough legs left in them to sell for the Wii U.

Though the list may be short in the first quarter of 2013, we expect early sales will dictate whether or not that number climbs in the new year.

Is the Wii U a buy?

If you’ve got an extra $349 (32GB; $299 for 8GB) to spend this holiday, then it’s not a bad way to spend it. If however, you’re like most folks and are looking to spend your money cautiously this year, then we label the Wii U a wait and see item.

There are still a lot of questions that can’t be answered yet. We don’t know how well TVii will work, whether Nintendoland is a secure environment, how well the technology promised (dual screens, etc.) in the Wii U work. Until we see the Wii U in an uncontrolled environment (ie the hands of gamers), it’s best to stick with the wait and see approach.

Your Thoughts

What do you think about the Wii U as a launch date or even 2012 holiday buy? Are you more or less excited about the Wii U than you are for new games? Let us know in the comments!

The first Dragonborn seeks to resurrect himself and Bethesda has given some insight to that character with descriptions expressing he ‘devoured’ dragons. You’ll face off against the first Dragonborn in an effort to become synonymous with the title you bear. The official trailer shows a good deal of battle and combat scenarios which indicates a full action loaded DLC.

Skills / Gear

There is plenty of new bounty to be had in the Dragonborn DLC. Beyond the exploration of new towns like Raven Rock and characters such as Dark Elven settlers, there are other things that add to your character’s power.

Shouts

Bethesda has indicated new shouts with one such shout named Dragon Aspect which allows a character to harness the power of a dragon. As to what other shouts might be available, we’ll have to wait and see.

Skills

The Daedra play what looks like a significant roll in Dragonborn. Such interaction will yield new powers and skill tree options to let players expand their character’s abilities.

Gear

Announced are new armor in the form of Bonemold and Chitin as well as new Stalhrim weapons. Expected are an increased amount of random Daedra hearts used in the creation of Daedric armor.
